Social Use of the Project The idea is to take advantage of the consortium in order to exploit its capacity to transfer academic results into applied research on a European, national and local level through links with policy-makers and social administrators by making proposals for legal, institutional and welfare reform and by disseminating research results to wider audiences. The very basic idea on which this project is based is that raising public awareness of the child-related problems is an integral part of its solution. In particular, trying to reach out to actors beyond the research community and members of a non specialised general audience to get their cooperation in order to percolate down the results of research as well as to get feedback from them as to how to approach these problems will be considered as a valuable asset to our project. For this reason the activities of the network include several instruments of wider dissemination of results to interested actors in the civil society with the aim of encouraging their participation in the exploration of wider societal implications of the project. In the first place, the creation of a Children's Well-Being International Documentation Centre, including a Virtual Network and a Forum, will undoubtedly contribute to improve the awareness of the general public concerning child issues. Secondly, the setting up of Commissions of Local Agents in Spain, UK and Greece made up of local administrators, professionals in the field of childhood, NGO officers and social workers will be useful transmission mechanisms for the dissemination of knowledge generated in the network. |
